On the occasion of Abraham Lincoln's second inauguration, enjoy selections from the President's inaugural dinner menu, re-created in this celebration of that event held on March 6, 1865. The Willard Hotel, a center for social and political life during the Civil War era, hosted President-elect Lincoln for 10 days just before his first inauguration in 1861.

Upon arrival, enjoy a glass of sherry and view the Willard Hotel's Lincoln memorabilia, including items from his pre-inaugural stay. Before dinner, Harry Rubenstein, curator at the National Museum of American History, gives a short, Lincoln-related presentation. Dinner is served at 7 p.m. in the Crystal Ballroom, featuring selections served at Lincoln's second inaugural dinner, re-created by the hotel's executive chef.

After dinner, President Lincoln—portrayed by Lincoln historian James Getty—offers remarks about his aspirations for his second term as president and insight into his leadership decisions.
