The Katzen Arts Center at American University features an extraordinary 30,000 square foot art museum with a variety of gallery spaces for exhibition of contemporary art from the nation’s capital region and from around the world. Enjoy a tour of this exciting museum that will showcase the work of several contemporary Washington artists: Tom Green, Robert Devers, Alan Feltus and Lani Irwin.

Tom Green has been a legendary figure in the Washington, D.C., art world for over 40 years. His paintings, drawings, watercolors and installations somehow manage to move freely between the formal and the accidental, the iconic and the idiosyncratic, the serious and the absurd.

Robert Devers work is an interdisciplinary exploration of the influences of culture, craft, and place on the artist. Devers maps his own journey in the form of paintings, ceramics and installations to offer a new translation of pattern, form and space and to provide new perspectives of cultural influence as an American artist working in Mexico and Italy.

Alan Feltus and Lani Irwin now live and work in Assisi, Italy, but have long associations with American University. This exhibit presents recent work including paintings, drawings and collages that reveal relationships of the figure in still, intimate spaces.

The tour meets at the Katzen Arts Center, located at 4400 Massachusetts Avenue directly across from the entrance to American University. Metered parking is available in the underground garage acessed from Massachusetts Ave.
