The 12th novel about America’s
favorite forensic anthropologist,
Tempe Brennan, has
arrived. The intense suspense
in Kathy Reichs’ novels and
on the television series Bones (based on Reichs’ books)
continues as Brennan is accused of mishandling an
autopsy.
In an illustrated presentation, Reichs looks at several case
studies in forensics and shows how they inspire her writing.
Over the past decade, Reichs has become a dominant talent
in forensic mystery writing. Her blend of chilling forensic
descriptions and riveting suspense makes her books international
bestsellers. Her new book, for example, opens with
Brennan regaining consciousness in a small, dark, cold
space and discovering her hands and feet are bound. That’s
just on the first page.
Reichs, a forensic anthropologist herself, is certified by
the American Board of Forensic Anthropology, and she is a
professor in the department of anthropology at the University
of North Carolina, Charlotte. Her new book, 206 Bones
(Scribner), is available for signing after the program.
