It rarely happens that a first-time author’s
novel transcends the bestseller list and
becomes a respected piece of literature.
David Wroblewski’s The Story of Edgar
Sawtelle is such a book. It comprises
elements of Shakespearean tragedy, the
intrinsic connection between humans
and dogs, the power—and limitations—
of language, and the turbulent emotions
that link families or tear them apart.
This evening, Wroblewski talks about
how he came to write the riveting story
of a boy who cannot talk and the extraordinary dogs he and
his parents raise on a rural Wisconsin farm.
Bill Thompson from "Eye on Books" will interview Wroblewski. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle is available for signing after the
program.
